See the musical instruments being played right along side the soloist in the concert. The soloists are dressed appropriately to coordinate with the pages of the tale. Dressed in suites and ties or nightgowns the tale is told with props like his work desk, or crotches for Tiny Tim.

About Booskerdoo and Booskerbooties Diaper Drive:

Owners and operators James and Amelia Caverly had a baby girl in February of this year, and they immediately saw the need. “Diapers are expensive and are most often not eligible for purchase through government assistance programs,” says Amelia, Booskerdoo’s executive baker. “Diapers are vital for the physical and mental state of babies and their families. A lack of diapers often precludes babies from day care centers, stumping early development and keeping parents out of the workplace.”

Booskerdoo’s bakery opened in June of 2013, after Amelia left a career of teaching Latin in NYC and social studies at Ranney School in Tinton Falls.  “We received an overwhelming response from our first take-home menu during this Thanksgiving, with 10 percent of sales going to the Philippines Red Cross,” comments James, coffee roastmaster.

Booskerdoo’s handcrafted desserts use only fresh ingredients, never frozen, and all items are made-to-order. This year’s menu includes their Can-Free Pumpkin Pie, Peppermint Chocolate Cake, a variety of indulgent cookies, and the celebrated Salted Caramel Apple Crisp Pie. Amelia’s love for baking began with family pie recipes handed down from past generations. She met her Booskerdoo bakery crew, Diana Richter and Dan Felicetta, while training at the Monmouth County Culinary Program at Brookdale Community College.

Sports Illustrated Kids has announced this year’s SportsKid of the Year winner is Jack Wellman of Newtown, Connecticut.

JACK WELLMAN is the 2013 SportsKid of the Year

Like most kids, Jack Wellman loves sports. Until last year, he wrestled and played football and lacrosse. But then a bad injury sidelined him. Instead of sitting out, Jack decided he wanted to stay involved and give back by coaching. Even though he was just 13, he became a valuable mentor to a group of young wrestlers.

Jack's leadership, kindness, and spirit were exactly what his community of Newtown, Connecticut, needed when it suffered a terrible tragedy last winter. It inspired Jack to be as active as ever. He found ways to help his town heal through sports and beyond. Jack's big heart and determination to help his community are why he is the 2013 Sports Illustrated Kids SportsKid of the Year.

SAVING MR. BANKS. As done by Mr. Walt Disney. My thoughts on the movie.

Let's just get this out of the way-if you read nothing else of this post, read this:

I loved every single second of Saving Mr. Banks.

Is it good? oh yes.

Should you go see Saving Mr. Banks? Absolutely.

In theaters everywhere Friday, December 20, 2013.

Did you notice I wrote from Walt Disney, not Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures in the title of the post? Well, the film is really from Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures but, Walt Disney, himself is the man who saves Mr. Banks in the film Mary Poppins.

Last Tuesday night the Mr. and I went to the screening for Savings Mr. Banks. It had snowed earlier in the day and luckily the snow plow workers had cleared the roads spotlessly, so we went to the screening. Here we are having a fun photo after the screening.

This is a film about the author of Mary Poppins, and the making of the film. Walt Disney's(Tom Hanks) daughters loved the book and wanted him to make a film of Mary Poppins.
It took twenty years for Walt Disney to convince the book's author- P.L. Travers (Emma Thompson) to sell the rights to her book to his company. This film is a true story of the making of the film Mary Poppins.

All the actors in Saving Mr. Banks are amazing. Tom Hanks and Emma Thomson make you feel like they are the real Walt Disney and P.L. Travers.  Colin Farrell is Travers Goff and Paul Giamatti as Ralph. Outstanding performances by the entire cast.

The song writers are fantastic-who doesn't love the song- Let's go Fly a Kite. That song could get anyone tapping their feet.

With the help of Walt Disney Studios writers and staff P.L.Travers allows the book to become a movie, at least until she walks out on the writing process.

We see P.L.Travers as a formal, picky woman, always trying to be right and proper. She doesn't let her guard down-until we see her dancing.  Why is she so stubborn? What has made her single, almost broke, and unhappy? We see parts of her childhood, the happy times with her father, the sad times of his illness, and the Aunt that comes to make him well. She holds onto those memories, but seems to dwell on the sad memories. Walt Disney brings out the happiness that is buried so deep within her soul. How does he do this?

To see how much Walt Disney loves people is heartwarming, wow, you just can't not love him. I always think of Walt Disney as a company, but in this film I saw him as a man, a father, and a very patient, humble person.

Soon after P.L.Travers cancels production of the film and returns home to England, Mr. Walt Disney arrives at her home to ask her to continue with the making of the film. He shares the story of his childhood and they way he remembers it, not necessarily the way it was-perhaps choosing to look past the unhappy times. Finally,  Miss Travers agrees to let her story, Mary Poppins finally become a film. I think she learns how to show love from Walt Disney. His passion for bringing happiness to children applies to adults too.

So, just how does Walt Disney save Mr. Banks???
Holy cow, I'm not going to giveaway the ending!!!

Should you take the kids, I'd say probably not. It's more of an adult film since there are some scenes of the unhappy dad and such. I'd go see it again. It's one of those movies you'll be thinking about for a long time to come.

read below for the official film summary.

Two-time Academy Award®–winner Emma Thompson and fellow double Oscar®-winner Tom Hanks topline Disney’s “Saving Mr. Banks,” inspired by the extraordinary, untold backstory of how Disney’s classic “Mary Poppins” made it to the screen.

When Walt Disney’s daughters begged him to make a movie of their favorite book, P.L. Travers’ “Mary Poppins,” he made them a promise—one that he didn’t realize would take 20 years to keep. In his quest to obtain the rights, Walt comes up against a curmudgeonly, uncompromising writer who has absolutely no intention of letting her beloved magical nanny get mauled by the Hollywood machine. But, as the books stop selling and money grows short, Travers reluctantly agrees to go to Los Angeles to hear Disney’s plans for the adaptation.

For those two short weeks in 1961, Walt Disney pulls out all the stops. Armed with imaginative storyboards and chirpy songs from the talented Sherman brothers, Walt launches an all-out onslaught on P.L. Travers, but the prickly author doesn’t budge.  He soon begins to watch helplessly as Travers becomes increasingly immovable and the rights begin to move further away from his grasp.

It is only when he reaches into his own childhood that Walt discovers the truth about the ghosts that haunt her, and together they set Mary Poppins free to ultimately make one of the most endearing films in cinematic history.

Disney presents “Saving Mr. Banks,” directed by John Lee Hancock, produced by Alison Owen, Ian Collie and Philip Steuer, and written by Kelly Marcel and Sue Smith. Executive producers are Paul Trijbits, Christine Langan, Andrew Mason and Troy Lum. The film will release in U.S. theaters on December 13, 2013, limited, and open wide on December 20, 2013.

FREE book offer from  SAVING MR. BANKS it's available exclusively on iBooks at
