"Saving Mr. Banks" begins production of the film.

Los Angeles, Calif., September 19, 2012—Disney began production today on “Saving Mr. Banks,” the account of Walt Disney’s twenty-year pursuit of the film rights to P.L. Travers’ popular novel, Mary Poppins, and the testy partnership the upbeat filmmaker develops with the uptight author during the project’s pre-production in 1961.

Two-time Academy Award®-winner Tom Hanks (“Philadelphia,” “Forrest Gump”) will essay the role of the legendary Disney (the first time the entrepreneur has ever been depicted in a dramatic film) alongside fellow double Oscar®-winner Emma Thompson (“Howard’s End,” “Sense and Sensibility”) in the role of the prickly novelist. Before actually signing away the book’s rights, Travers’ demands for contractual script and character control circumvent not only Disney’s vision for the film adaptation, but also those of the creative team of screenwriter Don DaGradi and sibling composers Richard and Robert Sherman, whose original score and song (Chim-Chim-Cher-ee) would go on to win Oscars® at the 1965 ceremonies (the film won five awards of its thirteen nominations).

When Travers travels from London to Hollywood in 1961 to finally discuss Disney’s desire to bring her beloved character to the motion picture screen (a quest he began in the 1940s as a promise to his two daughters), Disney meets a prim, uncompromising sexagenarian not only suspect of the impresario’s concept for the film, but a woman struggling with her own past. During her stay in California, Travers’ reflects back on her childhood in 1906 Australia, a trying time for her family which not only molded her aspirations to write, but one that also inspired the characters in her 1934 book.
None more so than the one person whom she loved and admired more than any other—her caring father, Travers Goff, a tormented banker who, before his untimely death that same year, instills the youngster with both affection and enlightenment (and would be the muse for the story’s patriarch, Mr. Banks, the sole character that the famous nanny comes to aide). While reluctant to grant Disney the film rights, Travers comes to realize that the acclaimed Hollywood storyteller has his own motives for wanting to make the film—which, like the author, hints at the relationship he shared with his own father in the early 20th Century Midwest.

“Saving Mr. Banks” will film entirely in the Los Angeles area, with key locations to include Disneyland in Anaheim and the Disney Studios in Burbank. Filming will conclude around Thanksgiving, 2012, with no specific 2013 release date yet set.

WON'T BACK DOWN in theaters today. My thoughts on seeing the film already.

WON'T BACK DOWN - if your kid was in a school like the one in the film, what would you do?
If they are, what are you doing???  Read the title again.

I viewed this film on Wednesday night in Philadelphia. The theater had a talkative crowd in attendance. You could really tell they were into the film. It's almost as though they were having a conversation with the actors on the screen. All in a positive way.

I could tell there were parents in the seats, parents who were watching the film to see the outcome of one hard working parent's attempt to improve her daughters school environment. The audience was rooting for the Mom and teacher all the way!

Yes, there are famous actors in the film, but it could be you or me. It could be a mom or a dad you know doing the same thing, wanting a better education for their child.

I wasn't watching the film to see who wins in the end.
It's not about winning or loosing, it's about change.
I was watching it to see how change could be made.

This Mom, along with another teacher in her daughters school are tired of the school environment, not necessarily the teachers, the administration or others.
The teachers realize they want to teach, be creative, and that they have lost their way, for whatever reason that may be.

What do you think happens, does change take place? If you were the Mom in this film what would you do for your kids?   Go see the movie and find out! You might just be inspired, you might cry, you might clap, you might talk out load during the film. It's ok. afterall, it's our kids.

A new brand of candy is available just in time for Halloween!
UNREAL™ BRAND is  now available in stores such as CVS, Walgreens, Kroger, and will be available in more retailers this Fall.

There are five candies in the line up:

UNREAL ™ 54 : Candy Coated Chocolate with Peanuts  (my all time favorite)
UNREAL™  41: Candy Coated Chocolates
UNREAL™  5: Chocolate Carmel Nougat Bar

Enter to win a Yearbook From Shutterfly!

The new school year is in full swing. Back to school nights are on the calendars, and students are busy learning and sharing in the classroom.

From the first day of school parents are taking photographs of their child's  field trips, holiday parties, school plays, sporting events, and graduation ceremonies.

Instead of storing all those adorable photos on your computer, share them in a yearbook you can create from Shutterfly!

These yearbooks are so adorable! Choose from a variety of templates, designed pages, and more. Shutterfly offers tips on making your yearbook, and even a disccount when you contact them. You can get the whole class a yearbook for as low as $6.00 each. What a great price. I've paid around $40-$80 for yearbooks for my kids and they did not look nearly as nice as Shutterfly's.

I really like that you can use your own photographs and chose the layout. You'll know what your are getting since you design the yearbook.
Hold a day of sharing when families can bring in their photos to put in the yearbook. Everyone captures different moments of the year so share your photos for the yearbook.

Head over to Shutterfly's yearbook site and see how easy it is to make your own yearbook. The templates, designed pages and colors are awesome!  This type of yearbook is perfect for pre-school all the way through high school.

Get your checklist for emergency preparedness from about one

AboutOne Supports FEMA’s National Preparedness Month with Recommendations to Help Families Prepare for Emergency
AboutOne supports the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s September “Ready Campaign” with recommendations about essential information to organize and store for ready access in case of emergency.
Paoli, PA, September 13, 2012 – Earlier this month, as Hurricane Isaac continued to affect parts of the country, the Federal Emergency Management Association launched the ninth annual National Preparedness Month. Spearheaded by FEMA’s Ready Campaign, this annual event is a nationwide effort to educate and empower Americans to prepare for and respond to emergencies. Online family organizer AboutOne ( has joined this effort by preparing a checklist and accompanying video tutorial ( of recommended emergency preparedness documents and information families should have on hand.
In 2009, the Citizen Corps National Survey ( revealed that only 44% of Americans have a household emergency plan, including ready access to family members’ medical information, emergency contacts, insurance paperwork, and other important information.
“Hurricane Issac, July’s super derecho, and the recent wildfires in the western United States are all grim reminders that disaster can strike anytime, anywhere, said Joanne Lang, AboutOne’s founder and CEO. “Last summer, Hurricane Irene forced my own family to evacuate, so I understand the stress and worry an event like that can cause. I’m proud of the fact that AboutOne’s online family management system helps our customers be prepared for anything life throws at them by giving them instant access to the information they need to take care of their homes and families.”
AboutOne’s family organizer helps customers save time, get organized, and be prepared. The password-protected companion apps ( provide exceptional data security and make it easy to manage life’s details on-the-go – no more accumulating piles of paper to file, no more lost documents, and no more wasted time spent searching for family information and paperwork.
The app uses gamification ( to make it fun for customers to get organized, guiding them on the path to organization, and rewarding them with points and badges for meeting their organizational goals. As part of their efforts to support National Preparedness Month, AboutOne has released a special Emergency Preparedness badge.
AboutOne can be used to quickly access family members’ health records and answer questions about medications, vaccinations, and conditions. In an emergency, AboutOne’s companion mobile apps provide online and offline access to emergency contacts and family member health information.
Right at the point of purchase, a customer can snap a scan or photo of a receipt for a new possession and instantly add that item to their home inventory with links to warranty info, user’s guide, and purchase place. These details will then be available for insurance claims after a disaster.
From the baseball game, the recital, or on vacation, parents can snap and add photos to record special memories, along with quick notes about the occasion and links to the people involved. Those precious memories will then be safely and securely stored in the cloud, protected from the destruction resulting from a natural disaster.
“AboutOne is committed to helping customers get organized, save time, and be prepared with access to the household information they need, when and how they need it on a daily basis, and in case of emergency,” says Lang. “With AboutOne and our suite of mobile apps, a mom really does have family life in the palm of her hand.”
AboutOne ( is the fast, easy way to manage your busy life – no matter where you are – guiding you along the path to organization and rewarding you for being organized. Its online organizer provides one place to quickly store and manage memories and household paperwork. AboutOne builds on calendar, contacts, and mobile tools you’re already using, enhancing them with document filing and reporting to make the information you store work for you in a way that other apps don’t, and making it readily available for informed decisions and fast response in an emergency.

Soft Scrub will work upside down for you

Who likes to clean toilets? Not me. We have three bathrooms, that means three toilets. I'd really like one more bathroom on our first floor. I know-why would I want another bathroom to clean, right? When we have a party or company- two bathrooms on the first floor would be ideal. Not to mention when we come home from somewhere someone always heads right to the first floor bathroom.

Three bathroom, one kitchen and one laundry room sink, all need regular cleaning. Spray cleaners are my friend. Spray cleaners that can spray upside down-well that's even better.

I tried a new household cleaner from Soft Scrub that cleans great!

Soft Scrub really does spray up side down, which is great to spray under the toilet rim-who knows what grows under there.

What I like about HouseHold Cleaners from:
Soft Scrub Total All Purpose, Total Bath and Bowl, and Total All Purpose with Bleach:

    Works Upside Down-
Patented trigger that allows you to clean with a fine mist or a thick foam
One product can clean bathrooms, kitchens, and more
Tough on Stains, gentle of surfaces
    Cleans and Deodorizes

Finding Nemo 3D in theaters today!

Last Saturday I spent part of the morning watching the screening of Finding Nemo 3D. Yes, I have seen the film a few years ago,  but this time it was 3D. We were given these really fun 3D glasses to watch the film:

The sea comes alive when you are watching it in 3D. The colors are much deeper and vibrant too. You'll feel like you are swimming with Nemo and Dora!

Yesterday morning I attend the pre-sale blogger event at JBFPhilly with Real Mom Media.  Just Between Friends Consignment sale is at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center Hall C, 100 Station Avenue, Oaks, PA this weekend.

The sale is September 13-15 and another sale is happening at the Greater Reading Expo Center in Reading, PA September 27-29, 2012.

We were given $25.00 to spend  at the show. Since my kids are a bit older I bought some baby/infant items that were still in their new package to give as gifts. The prices are really reasonable. There is even a Mom table for household decorations and holiday items. All items are clearly marked with a price tag.

There are rows and rows and rows and rows of clean toys, strollers, cribs, clothing, shoes, puzzles, games, crafts, and so much more! Brand names galore. Savings galore.

Beth McIntyre and Tracy Panase are the two local moms who organize this event. And it is very organized!

So clean out your closets , basements, and attics and get cash for your outgrown children items.
You'll save 50 to 90%  shopping at JBF sales on thousands of items. Clothing for preemies through size 20 for boys and Juniors for girls. You'll also find maternity items, infant gear, outdoor equipment, shoes, accessories, books, movies, games, puzzles, room decor, furniture and tons more!

Just Between Friends was created in 1997 by mom Shannon Wilburn and her Friend Daven Tackett. They hosted a sale  in their living room with 17 Friend consignors and grossed $2000 in sales. The sale quickly grew and in 2003 they formed Just Between Friends Franchise. Currently there are 124 franchises in 24 states.

From winning awards and being featured on national television shows including CBS Early Show, ABC News, Good Morning American, Fox News and popular web sites like yahoo,,, and Disney's Just Between Friends is growing. In the past four years it was named one of Entrepreneur Magazine's Top 500 Franchises.

Disclosure: I was given $25 gift certificate to shop the sale and learn about JBFPhilly. All comments and views are my own.
