Fun Frugal Finds for Friday: Holiday bobble friends

I found these fun holiday characters at Dollar Tree. My friendly neighbor has a yellow hula girl on her dashboard that she told me she got at Dollar Tree, I went there to find some a while ago and they were sold out. Last week I took my daughter to Dollar Tree to get some decorations for her dorm room and I found these! Needless to say I was pretty happy to find them. I keep mine on the window sill above the sink. When the sun hits their solar panel they dance. It is too much funniness! Here is a short video to see them in action -our nosey cat had to jump in the end, but you can see how the holiday characters dance: These are great for stocking stuffers or just to give for fun. Look for these at Dollar Tree, I found them on a display table right when you walk in the door.

Young Readers have a new companion book for the movie Lincoln, wrap one up for Christmas

Almost 150 years after the death of Abraham Lincoln, the fascination with our 16th President is stronger than ever. This November, Steven Spielberg brings us and outstanding feature film simply called Lincoln, a revealing dram that focuses on Lincoln's final months in office as he pursues a course of action to end the Civil War, re-unite the country and abolish slavery.   To accompany the movie, the film’s producers invited Harold Holzer, noted historian and the author of dozens of books on Lincoln and the Civil War-- who also served as a consultant on the movie--to write a new book especially for young readers that could become one of the official tie-ins to the movie. The result is -- Lincoln: How Abraham Lincoln Ended Slavery in America , A Companion Book for Young Readers to the Steven Spielberg Film Lincoln (November 20, 2012; Newmarket Press for It Books, an imprint of HarperCollins; 9780062265098; $16.99; 224 pages; hardcover), by Harold Holzer.   Prompted by the focus o

AI duPont Hospital for Children is expanding it's hospital with families in mind

I spent a special morning learning about Alfred I duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington Delaware. It was a special morning because I got to go back to an area I was familiar with since living in south Jersey years ago. We spent most of our time in the Wilmington area and it was nice to go back and visit. There was road construction going on, so I was glad to know the area. It was also a special morning because I knew of Alfred I duPont and the Hospital for Children when we lived in that area, but I did not know of the amazing amount of work, talent, skills, and compassion going into the new hospital for children. We meet a few of the caring, devoted people working on this expansion and at Nemours.  If you have, had or know of someone with an ill child you truly will  appreciate the time and talent given to this expansion. and what about the doctors? They have 152 Nemours Physicians named to the Best Doctors in America 2011-2012. On the tour we viewed model patient rooms. Amazing.

It's National Diabetes Month and a perfect time to try UNREAL Candy

There are currently 26 Million Americans living with diabetes and since November is National Diabetes Month it's a great time to make simple lifestyle changes to optimize your own health. I like to have a piece of chocolate candy once in a while, well, more than I should.  UNREAL offers five delicious chocolate coated candies with less sugar, more protein and more fiber than leading brands.   I can tell you that this candy is good. I have tried it, I have bought it, and I have a bag of the Candy Coated Peanuts in my pantry right now.  I think my kids have found it and have been snacking on it also. It is that good. Kids love it, Parents love it and are glad for less sugar in our diets. Tuck a few bars in your family's Christmas Stockings this year!   UNREAL is the brainchild of Nicky Bronner, a 15 year old candy lover who embarked on a mission to prove that candy can be unjunked. “Why does the food we love the most have to contain ingredients we prefer to avoid?” questioned Ni

Shopping with a purpose, Gifts that give back

I'll admit I have a pile of ads, coupons and a list ready to go for Black Friday. I don't plan on shopping on Thanksgiving. I may pass up some great deals, but family time comes first. Shopping and coupons go hand in hand for me. I like a good sale, and even getting something as a bonus or gift with purchase. But the purchase I make that can benefit someone other than the merchant or myself is really the kind of shopping I prefer. So while you are in the mall, shopping online or shopping local this Saturday shop with a purpose. Places where your purchase benefits those in need: Dax Locke Store : benefits the Dax Locke Foundation raising money for St. Jude Children's Hospital. Coppertone Water Moms are cool even on the hotest days of Summer

Last Spring I joined fellow Mom Bloggers on becoming a Coppertone Water Mom. It was the time of year when flowers were emerging from the cold earth, kids were playing outside more often, and seasonal pools were getting ready for patrons arrival on Memorial Day weekend. I spent many of Summers at the borough pool in my small town from the time it opened to the time it closed in the early evening. My sister and I even took Red Cross Swimming Lessons and got jobs at the pool. We are redheads with fair skin. One word-Sunburn. My children are red heads and have fair skin. I remember picking up a sample packet of Coppertone Water Babies at our Pediatrician. We have stayed with Coppertone in different formulas, sprays, and creams. Its is great to be a Coppertone Water Mom, we can talk about the sunshine, the rain, and which products are our favorites. Even though it is November and very close to Thanksgiving Sunscreen use is still needed. Protect your scalp with a hat, protect your exposed sk

Ahh, my aching feet. Try Footminders for relief.

Do your feet ever hurt? All the time? Some of the time? My do. I've tried a few brands of shoe inserts to cushion my heel or help with arch support. Just a lot of walking can make your feet hurt or standing all day can put stress on your back and feet. Footminders Orthoitic Insoles correct excessive pronation-that is rolling in of the foot and lowering of your arches. Footminders also provide relief from heel pain-plantar Fasciitis, Achilles Tendonitis and Metatarsalgia-ball of foot pain. Foot minders have a dual layer of advance technology to provide cushioning and bio-mechanical support and re-alignment of your feet. My husband tried out the comfort orthotics and was pleased with the wear and quality. You need to trim the insole to the size of your shoe, place it in your shoe and then off you go. If you are in the market for new insoles take a look at the three models Footminders offers to find the one that best fits your need. Choose from 3 models, based on the types of shoes t
