Get your Mabel's Labels Summer Camp Combo at the early bird speical right now

Who's ready for Winter to be over?  Bright colored clothing and housewares are being advertised all over the place and Spring is in the air.  Summer camps are advertising in newspapers and parenting magazines.  Parents are lining up the Summer activities and planning vacations.

From Summer camp attendance to long hot days at the town pool to the backyard pool and beyond kids tend to loose stuff. The new towel you bought just for them, the swim goggles, the sports equipment, the lunch boxes, and the sweatshirt they took along in the early morning might all end up in lost and found or in another child's backpack.

You call the organization or the neighbors house where you think the item was left behind and try to track the missing article down.  At laundry time you might not recognize the beach towel or sweatshirt in your laundry pile!  Who's is this?

To help keep track of lost items in your household, label everything that is not tied down, well maybe that too.  From sneakers to softballs put a name label on the things that leave the house or even at your own pool side.

Choose a waterproof, stick proof, fade proof, washing machine proof label.  Personalize the labels with your child's name and motif. I'd even order labels for my own belongings like sunglasses or phone. From bug spray to sunscreen lotions label it all.

Right now Mabel's Labels is offering the  Summer Camp edition at an early bird special of  $37.95 for February. (regular price is $39.95)

What they are:

Sticky Labels and Skinny-Minis™ are dishwasher/microwave safe and UV resistant

JOHN CARTER Film "John & Dejah" Featurette

Photos from  JOHN CARTER Los Angeles premiere this week.

John Carter opens March 9, 2012

From Academy Award®–winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes “John Carter”—a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). “John Carter” is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, whose highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past and present. The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.

Feeling good on Friday (with a little help from this month's cravebox products)

This week the weather has been nice. Sunny blue skies, and 60 degree afternoon temperatures. People are out of their winter hibernation, taking walks, riding bikes. Today is it is windy and raining. At least it is Friday!

Two more finds in this month's Cravebox are thinkThin® bars and EBOOST®.

thinkThin® bars are nutrition bars. Low in sugar, high in protein, gluten free. The bar I tried this morning is Chocolate Dipped Mixed Nuts.

The bar tastes really fresh, the chocolate is good, and it's not too crunchy, not too chewy. This bar has 10 grams of protein, 4 grams of fiber and only 3 grams of sugar and  190 calories. There are almonds, peanuts and cashews in this variety. The bar has a chocolate bottom layer.

The other variety of thinkThin bar in this month's Cravebox shipment is Creamy Peanut Butter. I am not much of a peanut butter type person, so  I am going to let another family member give this one a try. I gotta say I am a fan of the Chocolate Dipped mixed nuts bar. You can find thinkThin bars in stores and online at

For the morning beverage I gave  EBOOST®  a whirl. I do mean whirl because you have to mix the packet in a glass of water.

EBOOST is a daily Health booster.  Vitamins, mineral and pure-nutrients are in this little packet. What is not in the packet is sugar, artificial flavors. This is the all natural orange flavor. It does taste like orange. I was expecting that funny nutritional drink mix taste. But, it is pretty good.  You can definitely taste orange. It's low in calories too only 5 calories in this glass!

EBOOST  is available to purchase online and in stores. Find out more at

Favorite Find of the week. Bic Mark it permanent marker

Permanent markers are good for making a poster or sign. But, broad tip markers don't make it easy to write in small spaces.  Bic Mark It Permanent markers now come in a fine tip! Writing an address on a package or envelope, a note to school, filling our a form, even making a grocery list is easy with these new markers.
the left side is the fine tip, the right side is the broad tip marker

How about these cool colors?

Plumtastic Purple
Pink  Flamingo
Playful Purple
Fandango Pink
Desert Rose
Rambunctious Red

These pens came in the recent Cravebox.  Every month a selection of really cool, neat products are packed neatly into Cravebox and delivered to my mailbox.  The pens were part of the contents in the box. Who doesn't like markers in fun colors!

The colors are perfect for this time of year. Sign the Valentine's Day cards with the Rambunctious Red or Fandango Pink.  Plumtastic Purple Sounds like a good color for Easter Basket tags and cards.

Looking for more cool colors?  Visit Bic.  To sign up for Cravebox go here. Cravebox is $10 per month. The value of the products are so much more than $10. I am thinking these pens alone are $10.
Watch for more post this month on the contents of this month's Cravebox.

Favorite Find of the week: Therapon Skin Health

Skin care products are getting healthier with more companies taking out the harmful ingredients and using natural  ingredients. Age and the environment can take a toll on our skin. Sun, smog, and stress can make our skin look older than we really are!

Keep your skin younger looking and keep that healthy glow.

travel size

Therapon Skin Health  offers products for all skin types.  One of the products I like is Theraderm® OPC Reparative Gel.  It is one of the steps in a three part skin care routine.  The Gel contains antioxidants that protect your skin.  Botanical goodness decreases inflammation, protects, and repairs skin collagen and elastin.  That's a hard working product. Just apply Theraderm OPC Reparative Gel to your clean face and neck before you moisturize.  The gel works with your skin to naturally restore itself. The result is healthy, younger looking skin.

You won't find Therapon in your local department store, beauty shop or drug store.  To learn more,  search for  a medical facility in your area that carries Therapon, and to purchase  direct, visit Therapon.

Happy Saint Valentine's Day! Where is the candy?

my mom makes cards like these every year

I have fond memories of classroom Valentine's Day parities. My favorite part was handing out cute little cards to all my classmates. The whole classroom was up out of their seats handing out sweet sentiments to Friends and crushes. We all had homemade  mailboxes that we could deposit the cards into. At the end of the day the teacher would allow us to take home our mailbox full of Valentine Cards.

We also had a party. Cupcakes, juice, treats, goodie bags and more!  Thanks Saint Valentine for being a romantic!

Fast forward to 2012 and my own children having their party at school.  From my days of loading up my kids with a goodie bags for every holiday and I do mean every holiday, this is what my daughter and her "committee" made yesterday at our house.

Although it looks good, the "tea party" does relate to their school work. So you can have your cake and eat it too! or in this case strawberries and brownies.  Each girl also made a baked good at home last night.  We made mini brownies. I heard something about cookies and lemon squares.

Where is the candy?  Who said Strawberries are candy?  That's my girl!

Build A Bear is celebrating 100 million Friends!

My children have spent countless hours playing with Build-A-Bears. I feel like we visited the shop once a week. The promotions and fun kept us coming back week after week. The price is right, the fun factor is there, and it was a day out of the house.  The girls learned to make decisions; choosing which bear, what outfit, colors, accessories and even naming the bear all were part of their growing experience.

Not only did my kids play with the bears for many hours, the quality of the Build-A-Bear friends is still going strong. Their cousins are now enjoying the furry friends and all their adorable outfits.

Build-A-Bear has certainly grown!  2012 marks their 15th birthday.  2012 also marks another milestone for them; the celebration of selling their 100 millionth furry friend! Build-A-Bear opened in 1997 in St. Louis Galleria. I remember when our mall opened a Build-A-Bear store, and it is still there years later.

To find a location and view all the cute furry friends visit them!   Build-A-Bears are wonderful to make and share. Your children can make their own friend in the workshop, make a friend for another friend. Bears make lovable gifts, even adults can make a friend to give to someone. From birthday gifts to get well gifts there are many cute Bears and animals to choose from for any occasion.

Philadelphia, PA - Plays & Players presents Valentine’s Va-Va-Voom, a special Valentine’s Day themed presentation by the Hear Again Radio Project.  The featured episodes are “Puppy Love” from the show Our Miss Brooks and “Blondie Gets a Valentine” from Blondie.

Stepping inside the historic Plays & Players building is the beginning of a trip back in time.  The Hear Again Radio Project presents classic radio dramas as they were originally broadcast with live Foley sound effects and the same commercials that would have aired with the shows.   Adding a visual element, the actors also appear in period costumes and on a period set, making the whole experience one of another era.

Our Miss Brooks was a situation comedy originally aired on CBS in 1948 about the adventures of Connie Brooks, a high school English teacher.  It was immensely popular throughout its run and made the career of its leading lady, Eve Arden.  Blondie, which began in 1939, followed Blondie and Dagwood Bumstead through the comic trials and tribulations of married life.  It was based on the comic strip of the same name which began in 1930 and is still in print.

Valentine’s Va-Va-Voom is directed by frequent Hear Again director Krishna Pryia Dunston and stars Frederick Andersen, Jared Michael Delaney, Darin J Dunston, Jill Lawrence and Kristen Norine.

Plays & Players (P&P) is at once 100 years old and 3 years old, having recently changed from a community theatre to a professional theatre focused on supporting and nurturing the work of local artists through performance and development. It hired its first Producing Artistic Director, Daniel Student, in its organization’s history, and has reached a level of prominence for the growing quality of its productions as well as its ability to launch the careers of some of the city's most talented performers. One of the hottest companies in town, and winner of Philadelphia Magazine’s “Best In Philly” award two years in a row, Plays & Players has become a rare place where a rich past meets an exciting present. From Walt Disney, The Secret World of Arrietty in theaters this month

Cast Members: Amy Poehler, Bridgit Mendler and Carol Burnett in Los Angeles
"The Secret World of Arrietty" opens February 17, 2012. An animated adventured based on Mary Norton's award winning children's book series "The Borrrowers".

Residing quietly beneath the floorboards are little people who live undetected in a secret world to be discovered, where the smallest may stand tallest of all.  From the legendary Studio Ghibli (“Spirited Away,” “Ponyo”) comes “The Secret World of Arrietty,” an animated adventure based on Mary Norton’s acclaimed children’s book series “The Borrowers.”

Arrietty (voice of Bridgit Mendler), a tiny, but tenacious 14-year-old, lives with her parents (voices of Will Arnett and Amy Poehler) in the recesses of a suburban garden home, unbeknownst to the homeowner and her housekeeper (voice of Carol Burnett). Like all little people, Arrietty (AIR-ee-ett-ee) remains hidden from view, except during occasional covert ventures beyond the floorboards to “borrow” scrap supplies like sugar cubes from her human hosts. But when 12-year-old Shawn (voice of David Henrie), a human boy who comes to stay in the home, discovers his mysterious housemate one evening, a secret friendship blossoms. If discovered, their relationship could drive Arrietty’s family from the home and straight into danger. The English language version of “The Secret World of Arrietty” was executive produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall, and directed by Gary Rydstrom. The film hits theaters Feb. 17, 2012.

I also carry a handful of business cards in my purse.  You never know when that conversations strikes up with a friend or relative on what you do all day!  You can tell them  about your blog/business, your Facebook page or you Twitter Account.
