Two daughters. Two colleges. One Mom's experience to get to move in day.

My parents went to college way back when, and when I was in high school, going to college was understood. My brother, sister and I all attended college, three different colleges, because, well, we are three different people.  I have two daughters, one has graduated from college and one is a junior in college this year. Each child is different in their personality, interests, and social circles. When my oldest was a Junior in high school, she began the process to find a college she liked best. Luckily she chose the one I liked best too! Both girls did!  As a high school student, their guidance department works with college bound students to keep them on track for applying for scholarships, deadlines, visitations, recommendation letters from their teachers, essay writing, and applying to college. But as a mom, I kept a close watch on those requirements too. To begin the college process at home, we designated a basket to store all the incoming mail related to colleges. We registered for o

From the newborn car seat to a booster seat, please be sure, really sure, that the seat is installed correctly in your vehicle.  Did you know that motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death for children age 1 to 13 in the USA? The fatality rate could be reduced by about half if the correct child safety seat were always used. Parents and caregivers should be sure to register their child’s car seat with the manufacturer so as to be informed in the event of a recall. Here are resources to help you correctly install and use the seats safely. o    Installation Resources:  If a car seat is not installed correctly, your child's safety could be in danger. Every car seat has different installation instructions. Find out more at safecargov o    Free Car Seat Checks:  During Child Passenge

Giveaway: OH MY, OH NO! By Lisa Charrier. A whimsical story book for little ones we love.

OH MY, OH NO! is a darling book for Moms to read to their little ones, and Dad's will enjoy reading the book aloud to children getting a glimpse into Motherhood. Written by Lisa Charrier , each page of the book is illustrated by Agnes Domergue in full color and whimsy for ages 2-6. Does your young child want to do exactly what you do? Imitating us drinking our morning coffee or tea, mopping the floor, trying on your makeup to be just like you. It's funny how children watch what we do, and then re-enact that task. It doesn't always turn out so well. Make up put on by a toddler looks much different that the make up we put on ourselves. Right!  Our children imitate from what they see us do,in the end a hug is all we need to share love for each other, so remember your children are watching and learning from you, be sure to show them your love even if you have to clean the kitchen up, again.  OH,MY, OH NO! Is a perfect gift for baby showers, new parents, and birthday gifts for

Visiting colleges this year? Put Campus Book Store Rentals on your list and save 40 to 90% off bookstore prices.

If you have a high school Senior headed off to college or a college student now, then I highly recommend using Campus Book Rentals  for text books and this is why:   Our oldest daughter was a Biology major in college and the text books were over $1000.00 per semester when we purchased them from the bookstore. Thankfully we found out about renting text books and that saved at least half that cost. Our second child is in college now and she rents her books every semester, now that we are educated on text book renting! If your son or daughter is planning on going to college soon or if you have a child in college now, then visit campusbookrentals.com and save your money! Grab the glasses honey, our wine is here from Uncorked Ventures!

Red or white?  I lean to the white wine side, and my husband leans to the red, white, or what ever pairs well with the menu. Autumn feels like the time to relax from the Summer, slow down, enjoy the weekends of warm days and cool nights, and sip away exploring wine. Brothers in law,  Mark Aselstine and Matt Krause founded   Uncorked Ventures where they carefully select wine from California, Oregon, and Washington and make available to purchase from their wine club, gift baskets, and wine gifts.  Their wine club  offers three levels,  Explorations, Special Selections, and Reserve Selections. Each shipment contains 2 to 3 bottles of wine. Plus as a wine club member there are other perks such as discounts or re-orders, newsletter, and special offers. THE IDENTICAL is in theaters today. See the video and my review!

I was able to view this film ahead of today, and at first glance I thought it was about Elvis. Lucky for me it's not about him at all. Did you think that too?  I was pleasantly surprised at how good the film is. It's not all about rock and roll as  I had thought. But it's about a family's love for their son.  A poor couple gives birth to twin boys. Their strong faith allows them to find a better life for one of their sons. Jobs are scarce and they can't manage two children.  The couple gives one son to a minister's family that has no children.  To recite Bible verses he sings the lessons in a way he can remember. His father wants nothing to do with singing for his son, but to answer the call to ministry.   The son answers the call to singing, and leaves home. He  travels from place to place performing and living a life of fame and money.   Does he find his way back home? Yes, and that's the strong message I took from the film.  Family and Faith.   The film
