Deals in the store and online for the weekend

I heard on the radio news this morning that gasoline prices are on the rise, and I see that reflected at my local gas station, already up three cents since yesterday.  Perhaps we will all be combining  more errands than we already are to save gasoline and time. Store Deals: This might be helpful in combing errands, especially with warm weather on the way;   Target  is offering a FREE reusable freezer bag when you purchase six frozen food items in the store.(ad for Feb.20-26, 2011).  This will be a good bag to store your cold foods in while running errands in the same area as your grocery stop. Staples   has some great $1.00 deals in their add for this week.  I bought this Scotch Brand Tape there today for $1.00, you can purchase two for the $1.00 each price.  It is not the roll type, it is flat to fit on your desk or work area. Staples (r) $1.00 each Kotex   has a metal tin(with products inside) that is great for travel or to throw in your purse.  I bought this at Shop Rite  in t

Review of Klean Kanteen (tm) Stainless Steel Bottles

Klean Kanteen (tm) Stainless Bottles Happy Saint Valentine's Day!  Today on my kitchen table is the weekend newspapers, coupons I need to look at,  Valentine's day cards, five boxes, yes five, of Candy Canes, don't ask why I still have them???, and  the tape and permanent marker I used early this morning at the post office to mail some packages.  The bottles in the middle of the table are Klean Kanteen  stainless steel bottles.  They are a favorite of one of my children and we have a growing number of them in our household.  I like the bottles because they are 18/8 stainless steel food grade, BPA free, easy to carry, really easy to clean, are not lined with plastic or aluminum, and omit the use of plastic water bottles.  We are a family of water bottles on the go, especially in the car.  These are great to fill with your cold beverage, refrigerate and then take with you.  I have never seen the bottles leak or rust. I hand wash the bottles and caps. When one visits their
Happy Saint Valentine's Day Weekend! This weekend is  one of gifts and candy and dinners out with loved ones.  People will become engaged, receive special jewelry and heart shaped boxes of candy. Children will exchange cards and candy on February 14 in classrooms.   What are your plans for the Holiday weekend?  What makes Valentine's Day a holiday?  Is it a holiday?  It is not a National Holiday where the majority of the working world has the day off, or schools are closed, so why is this day one to be recognized?  Saint Valentine is the patron saint of Love.  His history is in Rome and there are varying stories to be found in books and web searches.  His belief in Christianity and love has brought us to a day we remember him and show love for one and another.

Reclaiming Plastic Bags into Decking Material

Over the weekend I read an article about a school students that are collecting plastic bags. The students are collecting the bags in a program that is from Penn Jersey Paper Company  and Goodwill Industries .  The program has a goal in collecting a certain amount of bags, and for top collectors,   students are earn prizes.  The bags are collected, then sent to Goodwill Industries where they are sorted, giving jobs to Goodwill Industries Programs. The Plastic bags are then used in the making of Trex  decking material ( their products are made with reclaimed plastic and wood).  If you are considering a new deck or replacing a deck, visit their  WEB  site.   This is a great way to recycle the bags and keep them out of the landfill or blowing in the breeze ,or as we see to often, bags stuck on fences and whirling around the parking lots. Over the weekend I also received a decal in the mail.  It is from ConservingNow .  This is a static cling decal to remind you to bing your own bag.  You c

Do you want to Dip or Squeeze? Review of the new Heinz Tomato Ketchup Package

Heinz Tomato Ketchup in glass bottles    There is something pure and simple about Heinz Tomato Ketchup in a glass bottle. Maybe it is that home cooked feel of a local diner, my  childhood, or glass vs plastic bottle that makes me determined to keep that glass bottle in my refrigerator.  Heinz Tomato Ketchup  in the Iconic glass bottle is  hard to find for sale for home use. As far as I know it is not available in the glass bottle for retail sale.  You can still find it in some restaurants.  I was able to it for sale at a wholesale store, and now it resides in my refrigerator! The  Heinz Company was founded in 1869 by Henry James Heinz in Sharpsburg, Pennsylvania. The company has introduced the NEW Heinz Tomato Ketchup single serve packages, the first change in 40 years.  The new version is dual use; Dip and Squeeze (tm). The New Dip and Squeeze (tm) Heinz Tomato Ketchup New Package The   Dip and Squeeze  package is bigger than the old version, holding 3 times more ketchup.  You can
