Have your heard Matt Kearny's New CD? You can hear "Hey Mama" right now!

My drive time to and from anywhere seems to be with family in tow. The day before the arrival of Hurricane Irene I set out to gather up some groceries, alone. This gave me the chance to listen to Matt Kearny's CD Young Love in the car, by myself. The first song on the CD , Hey Mama is upbeat, lively, fresh, and fun. Driving through the rain, wondering how much wind and rain would be heading our way, the music took my mind off the weather.
His songs have been heard on popular television shows, and he is winning the crowds respect and love. I hear why.

What I liked about Matt Kearny's CD, Young Love
+ lively, upbeat songs, clap your hands, dance, be happy.
+ quiet songs, words to think about, relate to.
variety of songs, life, love, family, hardships, good times, bad times.
+ is a CD I will listen to again.
+ is a CD I will play at a party or a backyard Barbecue.
+ is a CD I will recommend buying least listening to.
+ has words I can understand and enjoy hearing.(that is a big one, since I am the  Mom of teenagers.

This is such a cool widget! Hover over the You Tube picutre  to listen to first song on the CD.

Songs on the Young Love CD:
1. Hey Mama
2.Ships in The Night
3. Count on Me
4. Sooner or Later
5. Chasing the Light
6.Learning to Love Again
7. Down
8.She Got the Honey
9.Young Dumb and in Love
10. Rochester
11. Seventeen

Starting in September Matt Keany will be touring the United States and Canada. To find the locations of the concerts click Here. This is his web page, where you will find more information on the tour.

What about the Hurricane?  Wind and Rain are now here. Tomorrow those both will increase according to the weather man. Pray for every one's safety.

Disclosure:  I received Matt Kearny's Young Love CD to review. By writing this post I am entered into a drawing from One2OneNetwork.  The comments and views are my own.

Get in Gear With Tiny Prints this school year!

 Visit Tiny Prints

By this time of the Summer we have piles growing in our house, piles of school supplies.
Those school list are keeping us busy organizing, shopping, ordering, and selecting  the right items on the list. Tiny Prints can help with many aspects of back to school offering personalized cards, labels, tags, notebooks, and even dorm decorations. One of my favorite things from Tiny Prints is the Allergy Cards. Every year my kids bring home a card from school for parents to fill out, in the small space we are supposed to write contact and medical information. How nice would it be to just staple one of the allergy cards, or medical contact personalized card onto the school card and not have to fill out the school card. These cards are also great for the child to keep in their wallet, backpack or purse in case of an emergency.

Tiny Prints also offer a great selection of Holiday cards and invitations your child can hand out at school for their upcoming party.  For that favorite teacher or a teacher you appreciated there are warm meaningful cards available from Tiny Prints

Send your child back to school in style with personalized gear from their Web Site. Teachers will also find a great selection of cards and notes to have personalized for classroom use. College students will appreciated the personalized stylish planners to keep their college life on schedule.

Back to school shopping is one of my favorite shopping times. New pens, pencils, notebooks, backpacks, clothes, shoes, lunchboxes, dorm needs and books.  I am finding it more important to personalize label their belongings even more when they are older since sharing is a big thing at this age.   Check out the  Tiny Prints web site to see how you can head back to school with some new fun products that are stylish and useful.

*It helps encourage Healthy Habits like washing hands when coming home from school, before a snack and meal times.
* The dispenser looks pretty cool on my kitchen sink or bathroom sink.

Another product from Lysol I tried was Lysol® Disinfecting Wipes Dual Action in Citrus Scent.

What is your taste from home? Lay's® Regionally Inspired Chips giveaway for your neck of the woods.

Dried corn. If there was one dish I had to pick for A Taste of Home, dried corn is it. Holidays are not complete without dried corn in my family. My Grandmother made this every holiday, and now my Mother prepares it for our holiday dinner.  Grandmother dried farm fresh corn in her kitchen every Summer. Imagine a country house, without air conditioning, cooking corn on top the stove and then in the oven. Hot day.

Grandmother's Dried Corn

Husk fresh corn on the cob-as much as you want to eat
Remove silk
Place the cobs in boiling water, enough water to cover the cobs
Cook three minutes
Remove corn from the cob
Spread the corn out evenly on a jelly roll pan
Place in 250 degree Fahrenheit oven
Stir corn frequently
remove from oven when the corn is dry
cool completely
store in sterilized air tight jar

To cook the dried corn:

Place the desired amount of corn you wish to cook in a pan of cold water (enough water to cover the corn)
Bring to a boil
turn heat down to a simmer
stir frequently
Simmer until all the liquid is absorbed
add evaporated milk (to taste and consistency desired
add brown sugar (to taste)
Serve  (I'll be right over)

My Grandmother poured the cooled water from the cobs onto her garden out back.
The husks, silk, and cobs were put in the compost pile out back.

Are there dishes special to your region or to your family, like dried corn is to mine?
Frito Lay® has chips inspired by the regions on America. From coast to coast there is a flavor of Frito Lay Chips.  My two favorite flavors are Lay's® Chipotle Ranch potato chips, and Balsamic Sweet Onion potato chips.

What flavors would you pick?

North East:  Lay's® Honey Mustard potato chips
Mid West: Lay's® Creamy Garden Ranch potato chips
North West: Lay's® Balsamic Sweet Onion potato chips
South West: Lay's® Chipotle Ranch potato chips
South East: Lay's ®Cajun Herb and Spice potato chips

The chips are made with all natural ingredients, cooked in healthier oils like corn and sunflower oils that contain 80% or more of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats. The chips have 0 grams of trans fat, and 1 ounce of Lay's Regionally inspired chips have less sodium than a plain bagel.

Giveaway:  For your chance to win a variety pack from Lay's® Regionally Inspired of Potato Chips, leave a comment on this post by August 29, 2011.(be sure your email is in your profile or comment) This Giveaway is now CLOSED.
