Why I chose Campus Book Rentals for my college kids

The month before my daughter began attending college we ordered all her required books from the college book store. The invoice amount was over $1000. Add that to all the other expenses and I thought, holy cow this is going to be more than I thought. Science books are expensive. For three years, that's six semesters of bookstore invoices like the first one. One day near the beginning of her last year of college my daughter shared a conversation she had  with a classmate and she said she rented her text books. What? Rented books?  We look into renting college text books and the savings were unbelievable. We saved well over half of what we were paying buying them from the bookstore. Just think of the amount of money we could have saved for six semesters. I am so glad we know now to rent college books since daughter number 2 is now in her first semester. Campus Book Rentals offers Free Shipping and returns which is great because books can be heavy and expensive to ship. If you have

Win Shutterfly Valentine's Day Gifts for the Cupid in Your Life

January and February seem to be the longest months of Winter. The holiday decorations are put away, the twinkling lights that adorn houses and trees are unplugged and the dark nights are here once again. By mid January I am ready to bring the Valentine's Day tote up from the basement and fill the house with hearts of all shapes and sizes. And how about those little conversation hearts-who doesn't love reading those!  My favorite thing about Valentine's day is the cards. Classroom cards that is. Do you remember hoping you'll get a card from that special someone one in your class you had a crush on?  On the day of the classroom party when you were allowed to open up your homemade "mailbox" it was like a bounty of little love notes and cards with lollipops attached. You could take home your "mailbox" at the end of the day and look at those cards for ever and ever. That is the great thing a greeting cards, you can keep them forever and re-read them as mu

Martie Duncan partners with Food Safe Familes Campaign. Keep your Super Bowl food safe and yummy.

Martie Duncan of MartieKnowsParties.com and Season 8 of Food Network Star Star is partnering with the USDA, FDA, CDC and the Ad Council’s Food Safe Families campaign to remind you to make food safety a big priority on game day! If you are putting out a bowl of nuts, or other foods that people tend to grab a handful of,  put a spoon in the bowl so everyone is not putting their hands into the bowl. Keep those germs at bay!  Always put out serving utensil for people to use. It keeps the germ population down, and sticky hands from getting all over your furniture too. I  keep a roll of paper towels in my downstairs bathroom at all times along with a foaming hand soap.  (I read somewhere that foaming hand soap covers more of your skin) I spray a disinfectant in the trash can, door nobs, sink, all around the toilet and even the light switch.I also keep a roll of paper towels by the kitchen sink along with a foaming hand soap so guest can wash up when ever they wish. Emmy Rossum's Newest CD "Sentimental Journey" tops my Valentine's Day Gift list

Emmy Rossum's Sentimental Journey will be released on January 29, 2013. She sings beautifully in this collection of classic songs. It truly is a sentimental journey listening to these songs again, and she sings them so lovely. The first song on the CD is Sentimental Journey and it's great!  I love all the soft music, the instruments and her voice in the entire CD.  Summer Wind is so good!  I'm not sure I could pick a favorite song...every song is wonderful and heartfelt.     You'll find yourself singing along to Many Tears Ago , I'm sure we all have someone we had tears for and have picked ourselves up and moved on-she sings- cried you outta my heart, and many tears ago. There are twelve songs on the CD, each song for each month. She actually planned it that way. The song is either about the season or some thing about the season that brings out and emotion.  The CD is perfect for dinner music, date night, or the drive home from work, or just for some me time.
