The past few days I've been doing Christmas shopping, in stores, not online, but waiting on line.  I've seen some empty shelves and floor space where Christmas decorations and gifts to buy have already been purchased. Are stores running out of things to sell for this Holiday season?  I didn't have a list in hand or in my head of what I was looking for on those shopping days, but i had the thought of finding something special, maybe even something that means a great deal to me about Christmas. Maybe that something wasn't a thing, maybe it was a feeling I'd been looking for. What better way to find calm, peace, joy, thanks, and gratitude for what blessing this life has given to us by the Lord. The three journals pictured here have strong and sturdy covers and pages. Did you know that SGT. STUBBY is the most decorated war dog in history?  A dog, A war, how did I miss this great story?  This film is based on a true story, the story of Sargent Stubby and how this little dog went from a street dog to being taken in by Private First Class Robert Conroy of the  102 nd  Infantry Regiment, 26 th  “Yankee” Division of World War 1. In France, Stubby saw frontline action in four offensives and 17 battles. He found wounded soldiers , saved an entire company by alerting the men to don gas masks and even caught a German spy.   After the recapture of Château-Thierry, the women of the town made him an embroidered jacket that would serve as Stubby’s uniform and display his numerous awards throughout the rest of his career. Returning home to a hero’s welcome, Stubby and Conroy toured the country leading victory parades and met three sitting U.S. presidents, among other honors.
