I'll admit I have a pile of ads, coupons and a list ready to go for Black Friday. I don't plan on shopping on Thanksgiving. I may pass up some great deals, but family time comes first.

But the purchase I make that can benefit someone other than the merchant or myself is really the kind of shopping I prefer. Macy's: drop your letter to Santa in the special Mailbox in stores. For each letter received Macy's will donate $1 to Make A Wish Foundation. They have letters on a table near the mailbox for you to fill out and address to Santa at The North Pole.
