On Monday February 4, 2013 my family began the Listerine 21 Day Challenge.
So, what's this challenge all about?
It's about making big improvements in our oral health.
It takes three weeks to form a healthy habit, that's 21 days.
Well, did it work? Glad you asked!
We started the Listerine 21 Day Challenge equipped with supplies:
I put the new supplies in all three bathrooms.
Kids bathroom: Listerine in fun flavors, and fun toothbrush designs, floss
Parents bathroom: Listerine Ultraclean, toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss
Downstairs bathroom: Listerine Ultraclean
The girls liked the Barbie Smart Rinse and used it morning and night along with brushing. They added the rinse to their brushing routine, previously they just brushed. They are a little better on flossing but still working on doing that everyday. Rinsing with Smart Rinse is a big improvement for them.
My husband and I used Listerine before we started the 21 Day Challenge, but we had not tired Ultraclean formula. (totally buying that formula from now on). The hubby and I both really liked Reach Access Flosser. The first night I put the supplies on the sink counter in our bathroom, my husband came out of the bathroom and said he was impressed how strong the floss was and expected it to break or snap off the handle. It's a gadgety thing, and my hubby could not resist trying it out!
We both agreed how simple it was to floss our teeth with the Reach Flosser. Just clip on the floss and floss away. Flossing is the part I like the very least about oral health care. My mouth is small and my teeth are close together, so flossing is a pain-literally.
I put a bottle of Listerine Ultraclean in the downstairs bathroom for myself. Having the rinse out on the sink kept me on my challenge to rinse at least twice a day. I found it really easy to incorporate rinsing during the day after breakfast and lunch. I used to just rinse at bedtime.
We kept track of our oral care with a daily reminder calendar on the mirror.
Our Results:
We are all doing great on brushing twice a day
We are all doing great on rinsing at least twice a day-this is a new habit
We have shown improvement on flossing, but we did miss a few days.
Keeping the products in sight is a great way to remember to brush, floss, and rinse, and was our biggest help.
Honestly, I am really pleased with Listerine Smart Rinse for kids, and UltraClean for adults. For me, at the end of the day flossing was much easier due to rinsing during the daytime. UltraClean kept my mouth fresh for a long time, and rinsed away those loose food particles.
Head on over to facebook to Listerine's 21 Day Challenge and see what a difference you can make in your families oral health care.
And don't forget to visit your dentist regularly for check ups and cleanings!
