Stuff falling out of your closets? Donate it to Goodwill to provide jobs, training, and community programs.
Is your closet overflowing? Is your garage packed to the ceiling? Does your basement look like a storage warehouse? Um, mine does. I'm taking advantage of the cooler weather and cleaning out extra stuff in my garage and donating it to my local Goodwill Store. I've found three locations of Goodwill Stores that I can donate stuff too. I ask for a tax receipt too. It takes just seconds to get a tax receipt once you have put in your name and address on your first visit.
I also love to look around the store after I've donated my goods. The first place I shop is the housewares. Those old dishes and cookware are my favs, then I'm off to look at old Christmas decorations. What's your favorite thing to look at in GoodWill?
Do you donate to Goodwill? Our town even has a bin for recycling plastic bags that has the Goodwill logo on. How easy is that, get rid of your plastic bags to recycling, and help Goodwill too.
ABOUT Goodwill's JOB CREATION PROGRAM
Did you know that donating one bag of clothing and one bag of books can equal up to 2.3 hours of on-the-job training for someone in your community? Add to that a used lamp, a dusty computer and perhaps a box of DVDs and CDs, and that number nearly doubles to 5.2 hours.
A simple item donated to Goodwill® can help provide job training programs, employment placement services and other community-based programs for people who have disabilities, lack education or job experience, or face other challenges to finding employment. In fact, Goodwill is the leading nonprofit provider of job training programs and career services in the United States and Canada.
