Truth be told, I will look the other way, close my eyes, or change the channel with lightning speed if I see those Twin Towers on 9/11 replayed on television.
However, this day I watched:
12 Strong.
And there it is...the twin towers, on the television, in the living room of a family, getting their daughter ready for school when she said, Daddy look and pointed to the television. As the dad looks, and the mom looks at what has just happened in New York City...and around the USA, their faces are emotionless.
The 12 Special Forces men are in Northern Afghanistan. Dropped by helicopter into rugged terrain, changing weather, and communication difficulties due to the mountains.
Now looking for their escort-allies in an unfamilar land, not knowing who is friendly or who is at war. The escort is found. He has six horses for the men to ride. There are 12 men, so 6 stay at camp until all have a horse.
There are tragic scenes in the film of women, children, and husbands that plead for their life. Civilization is not present since The Taliban has taken over and has allies with Al Qaeda.
They believe there are riches in heaven and kill as they see fit.
12 Strong. With navigation and jets that drop bombs on the war areas, the fighting has begun. The navigation is not always on spot/strategic info is not shared from their escort. This goes for supplies that are air dropped as well. The locals steal the supplies, and the Special Forces end up buying back their own supplies.
12 Strong are 12 men that lived to tell their tale. But wait, this tale is bigger than you or I can imagine. Riding horses, the men charged the Taliban camp and destroyed it. 12 men. 12 Strong men.
Captain, Mitch Nelson (Hemsworth) is given a piece of the tower to take with him as a reminder, for strength, and for freedom. He doesn't bring the piece back with him, he buries it in the sand after the Taliban camp has been destroyed.

12 STRONG -- SYNOPSIS
“12 Strong” is set in the harrowing days following 9/11 when an elite U.S. Special Forces unit, led by their Captain, Mitch Nelson (Hemsworth), is chosen to be the first U.S. soldiers sent into Afghanistan for an extremely dangerous mission in response to the attacks. Leaving their families behind, the team is dropped into the remote, rugged landscape of northern Afghanistan, where they must convince General Rashid Dostum (Navid Negahban) to join forces with them to fight their common adversary: the Taliban and their Al Qaeda allies.
In addition to overcoming mutual distrust and a vast cultural divide, the Americans—accustomed to state-of-the-art warfare—must adopt the rudimentary tactics of the Afghan horse soldiers. Despite forming an uneasy bond and growing respect, the new allies face overwhelming odds: vastly outnumbered and outgunned by a ruthless enemy that does not take prisoners.
