Building sand castles by the sea on Coney Island on a Summer's day.

A few Saturdays ago we went to Coney Island for the New York Aquarium 23rd annual  Coney Island Sand Sculpting Contest.  Hosted by Astella Development Corp. and the Alliance for Coney Island. It was the prefect Summer Day and we had fun cruising the boardwalk and looking at the sand sculpting contest.

Alliance for Coney Island is a nonprofit organization that is working to make Coney Island a year-round recreational oceanfront destination. Businesses, community organizations and residents are working together to make a better neighborhood for it's 50,000 residents and visitors. Coney Island attracts millions of visitors each year.

After Hurricane Sandy, the alliance worked to bring relief to the residents and help Coney Island recover. Through a campaign to help local residents, businesses, and community raising money and the funds supported relief and recovery.
