The movie is based on the true story of Donna Lawrence and her concern for a neighbors barking dog- she tried to calm, but instead was attacked by the dog and suffered serious injury.
Month's after her attack she came upon a dog in the park. This dog was badly beaten and burned. The dog, Susie, was rescued, nursed back to health and trained to work as therapy dog with burn victims.
