Win MADELEINE PEYROUX'S New CD, THE BLUE ROOM. Two ways to enter!

MADELEINE PEYROUX'S THE BLUE ROOM

I listened to Madeleine's new album over the weekend, and it's a hit with me.  I love her smooth, jazzy, vintage sounding voice. She has been compared to the sound of Billie Holiday. Her songs make me want to grab a glass-or two of wine and sit down for some me time. Of course you can share her music with everyone, but after listening to teenage music all day, I claim some grown up music now and then. Madeleine Peyroux's voice is soft, calming, and just the kind of music I like.

Madeleine and longtime collaborator / legendary producer Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell, Herbie Hancock), re-examine Ray Charles’ classic, and one of his most controversial albums, Modern Sounds In Country And Western Music

But instead of replicating the album, Madeleine and Larry represented the artistic freedom Ray exhibited, using imagination to break down musical categories and barriers. What Madeleine and Larry created is a sophisticated album rich in strings, pushing the power of Madeleine’s vocal capabilities – her melody changes, choices of tone and phrasing.

The Blue Room explores new ground, showing that like jazz itself, Madeleine is willing to take new chances – reinterpreting songs with an emotion and depth that can’t help but touch the soul.“I didn’t want to just do a straight forward covers album,” says Madeleine. “When Larry first brought this project to me, I was so moved by what I heard that it truly inspired me to both reinterpret these songs while also merging them with others that I thought fit perfectly.”“Ray’s ‘cultural landmark’ album has always been a part of me,” says Klein. “Madeleine naturally came to mind with this project. Much like Charles who in 1962 jelled R & B, Gospel, Country and Jazz, Madeleine is at a nexus of styles.

Don't you love her video, the Bel Air is so cool. I love how she drives through the city singing in her car all by herself. I bet we all do that-right?
It's definitely a CD I'd listen to over and over. The other day when I was in the car with my husband, I heard a song I liked, and said who is this? I looked at the radio screen to see who it was, and it was Madeleine Peyroux-imagine my surprise since I had not even written this post at that time!

She comes from the same places, blending Jazz, Blues, Country and Pop.”Wisely, Madeleine felt that the infusion of newer but like-minded material was essential to this project. Gems like Randy Newman's “Guilty,” Warren Zevon's “Desperadoes Under The Eaves” and John Hartford’s “Gentle On My Mind,” prove Madeleine to be an uncannily insightful ‘interpreter’ with her impeccable choice of material. On March 20th, Madeleine will kick off a world tour that includes two nights at Lincoln Center in New York City. Tour dates below. More dates to be added.

Giveaway of New Soft Scrub® 4-in-1 Toliet Cleaner to three lucky winners.

Let's talk about cleaning toilets. Hmm, I'd rather not talk about that, or clean them. However, I don't want dirty toilets in our house, so I have to clean all three of them. I'd clean four or five because I really would like two downstairs bathrooms in my next house. We have one powder room on the first floor and two full baths upstairs.I'd like three full baths upstairs. Why in the world would I want to clean all that? Who knows, but having a product that can help out cleaning the three we currently have in my house is greatly appreciated. Soft Scrub ®  is honestly amazing me with their new and improved products. I've learned about them in the past few months from trying them out and writing reviews. My kitchen sink has never shined so much, the bathrooms are cleaner, and now Soft Scrub 4-in-1 Toilet Care is now here! It is new, it smells nice, and it is so easy to use. Just clip it on the side of the bowl, make sure it is in the flow of water when the toil

So, how's the dinner time prep going? The kids are back in school, and  then after school is sports, band practice. Do you have the taxi light on top your car on? Sound familiar? I can relate. Those nights of soccer practice and games kept us moving. I am the late afternoon here on the East Coast, and glad to have my dinner thoughts together. How did I do it? Giveaway of Three Copies of Les Misérables on Blu Ray DVD combo Pack

You know that part of a DVD that prompts you to select play, scenes, bonus, set up while bits of the movie play? I did not get past that for several plays through the song "Do you hear the people sing" with  people of France waving their flag, and singing about they will not be slaves again.  The song is so moving, so powerful. It can stir up your the strength within your soul, it can remind you of the freedom of being an American, and it can bring you to tears of sadness, happiness, and joy. Now on to select play: I saw Les Misérables at the preview screening last year and was captivated, motionless in my seat. The DVD has the same effect. You'll be taken back to another place, another time. The cast is perfect, the singing is moving, and the scenery is real old world "Paris". As I watched Les Misérables it's a reminder to myself, a wake up call for us all to be humble, be better. To forgive each other, let go of our egos, help each other at times of need,
